Our pledge...
“Land of monasteries, convents, chapels and museums. Land of charming river banks, thickets and gardens. Land of agriculture, typical villages and outdoor activities. Land of sweets, wine and unforgettable moments”
The International Museum of Contemporary Sculpture
A reference in the international artistic panorama and an adventure without limits for those who accept the challenge of their visit. Knowing MIEC’s collection of outdoor sculptures means accepting to enter a labyrinth of shapes, imposing volumes or discreet passages, disconcerting figures or luminous crevices, highly appreciated by those whom enjoy art and culture.
Overlooking the city of Santo Tirso, the 532m high Nossa Senhora da Assunção Mountain offers a considerable forest area where leafy species of relevant interest remain untouchable. The imponent Basilica, the ancestral Padrão Castrum and the sporty Fervença Waterfalls are mandatory to visit. This natural area also provides multiple walking paths, some of which recognized by Camiños de Santiago and ideal for those who aim for outdoor activities. All this at a walking distance from Quinta das Leiras!
Known as the conventual city, Santo Tirso offers authentic delights prepared by the gods. If the Jesuits and Limonetes make our visitor’s mouth water, the Liquor of Singeverga and the local wines are an anthem to Bacchus. The city vibes are incredbly connected to its traditions. The Festas de São Bento, which used to be a pilgrimage in honour to the city’s count, are nowadays the thing every summer, receiving thousands of visitors.
